Designing a Pool That Fits a Henderson Backyard
Every good pool starts on paper, not in the ground. Before we ever break dirt on a lot off Horizon Ridge Parkway, we spend time on the design so the finished pool fits the yard, the home, and the way the family wants to use the water. Here are the design ideas we come back to on almost every Henderson project.
Start With How You Will Use It
A lap swimmer, a family with toddlers, and a couple who mostly want to host all need different pools. A tanning ledge and a shallow shelf suit young kids, while a deeper section and a clean rectangle suit swimming. We ask what happens in the water first, then draw the shape around the answer rather than the other way around.
Let the Lot Lead the Build Type
Access, grade, and soil often decide whether gunite, fiberglass, or vinyl-liner makes the most sense. A tight side yard in Inspirada may not fit a crane for a one-piece shell, which points toward custom gunite pools built in place. An open, level lot with good access can take a fiberglass pool installation and be swimmable much faster.
Plan the Sun and the Shade
Henderson summers are intense, and where the pool sits changes how usable it is. We look at afternoon sun, prevailing wind, and where a shade structure or a spillover spa would go. A few degrees of orientation can be the difference between a deck you enjoy at 5 p.m. and one nobody touches until dark.
Design the Deck and Features Together
The pool, the deck, and the water features should be drawn as one. Travertine or paver decking, a sheer-descent waterfall, and deck jets read as a single design when they are planned together, and the equipotential bonding grid gets set correctly under it all. Retrofitting a feature later almost always costs more and looks less intentional.
Build in the Code From the Start
The barrier, the gate, and the drain covers are not afterthoughts. A 48 inch self-latching barrier and anti-entrapment main drains are required, so we design them into the plan from day one. That keeps the Clark County inspection clean and the backyard safe for kids and pets.
